I am not usually one for classical music, but the Berkeley Symphony
is different. Under the charismatic leadership of Kent Nagano, the volley
of sound massages my eardrums in strong and powerful waves. Michael Wright
joined the BSO for the first set, then Manuel Barrueco joined them for
the second set. Here's a link to a review of the show by Joshua Kosman

Symphony's Gorgeous Finale Nagano leads tour of Adams' moods
After the show, we ran into Matt and John from Tumbleweed. Matt was
there with his girlfriend Lisa and John had brought his family. Matt and
John are both in Marketing. Matt is also a student in my Oracle TKD class.
Matt said that John's daughter, Maddy, had been jonesing for ice
cream, so we headed off to the Ben & Jerry's on Oxford. It was a little
cold for ice cream, but what the heck!
I ordered Orange Cream in Chocolate-Dipped Waffle Cone. Yummy!
Who cares if it is freezing outside! Maddy showed me her double-jointed
thumb and John promptly showed off his ability to do a witch's claw with
his hand. He was good enough to audition for a part as a disembodied
hand. Yuck, how appetizing!! I kept thinking about the movie where a disembodied
hand crept around strangling people. I will have to remember to ask Master
Yoon about defending against a disembodied hand. One never knows when that
technique might come in handy!
It was certainly nice to be able to hang out more with Matt and John.
Work is not really the most socially nurturing environment, but Ben &
Jerry's sure is!
