Continuing the weekend's
full count of events, I took the day off from Hankido for an afternoon show
by the Emerson String Quartet down at Stanford. My buddy Garth took Ting's
ticket, and TC & Kaoru drove up from Santa Cruz for the show.
Like usual, the Emersons were spell binding. They are truly musicians of
the very first rank! The group, founded by violinists Eugene Drucker and
Philip Setzer in 1976, also includes violist Lawrence Dutton and cellist
David Finckel. Curious about the name? Apparently those fiddle boys are poetry
fans, choosing American iconoclast Ralph Waldo Emerson as their namesake.
